Milling and Resurfacing on Route 97 in Hampton and Pomfret
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 97 in Hampton and Pomfret. This project is scheduled to occur on Friday, May 23 and be completed on Friday, June 27, 2025. Project No. DOT01720536CN “C” consists of milling and resurfacing a 7.89-mile segment of Route 97 from U.S. Route 6 (Providence Turnpike) in Hampton to the south junction of Route 44 in Pomfret. This project is scheduled to begin milling by Rafferty Fine Grading Inc. on Friday, May 23 to Monday, June 2, 2025. The resurfacing segment of this project by All States Construction is anticipated to begin on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, to Friday, June 27, 2025. No work will be performed on Monday, May 26, 2025, due to the Memorial Day holiday.
This project is included in CTDOT’s 2025 Vendor Resurfacing Program.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 97 from U.S. Route 6 (Providence Turnpike) in Hampton to the south junction of Route 44 in Pomfret. Traffic control personnel, crash attenuator vehicles and signing patterns will guide motorists through the work zone. The work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
